On one Saturday I went to a Hudson Bay outlet with the sole intention of buying the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturizer with SPF. Unfortunately, the outlet I went to didn’t sell that product. I was looking forward to getting that moisturizer. I really would like to include more products in my beauty collection that have SPF. Recently, I have been experiencing break-outs around my chin area. I had read that if SPF is neglected your skin will be more prone to breakouts.
I could have just left the store because I didn’t get what I came for. But when I am surrounded by beauty products, I do get very excited – like a little child in a candy store. As I was browsing through their wide selections of beauty products that they were offering, I spotted the Clinique City Block Sheer Oil-Free Daily Face Protector.
Some time ago I had an interest in this product because it contains SPF. But I was sceptical in purchasing it due to the fact it geared towards a primer than a moisturizer. I already have the Clinique Superprimer which I didn’t like. It has that silicone feeling and I prefer a cream primer. I was afraid that the texture of the Clinique City Block primer might be like their Superprimer.
Since I was in the store, I got the opportunity to actually try the product.Luckily, the formula of the City Block Sheer actually felt more like a tinted lotion. In order to test it, I applied little amount on my hand –
It goes on very smoothly
It is a very lightweight and sheer product
Plus, it has a broad spectrum SPF 25. However, there is also the Clinique Super City Block Oil-Free Daily Face Protector which has SPF 40 but at that moment that outlet didn’t carry that type.
With all these overwhelming results that I got by testing out this Face Protector I speedily purchased it.
My thoughts after using the Clinique City Block Sheer Face Protector (Clinique City Block Sheer Review) – I am loving it or NOT?
I am very happy that I purchase this product. It is currently my favourite daytime primer. Normally products that have SPF would give an orange cast on your skin when used. But not this one. My skin looks like I consume enough water when I use this primer. It doesn’t cause my face to look greasy but felt very light on the skin.I can wear it the whole day without wanting to take it off. Since It does help in covering up redness or scars on my face because it has a slight colour to it, when I’m having a good skin day, I don’t wear a foundation.This primer makes you achieve a flawless dewy natural look. This is the perfect product for those no-foundation or rush days. I have light to medium skin tone and the shade of this primer blends into my skin perfectly.
What more can I ask for! I got a primer that feels like a moisturizer, easy to apply, doesn’t smell terrible, offer some coverage, made with some nice ingredients like chestnut rose extract, vitamin C and E, gentian root extract etc and of course the main advantage – provide Sun Protection.
Another advantage that this face protector offers is that it is safe to use around the eyes.
I only noticed one CON about the City Block Sheer Face Protector. Its formula does have a little tacky feeling but that didn’t make the application process horrible or cause my face to feel sticky when used.
How do I use the City Block Sheer Face Protector
After I finish prep my skin, I will then gently evenly spread little of the product over my whole face – similar to how I’ll normally apply my moisturizer. Then I’ll blend it properly into my skin using my fingers. If I am using a foundation on the day I am using this primer, I will normally wait for some seconds to ensure that the product sink in and settle properly on my skin before applying foundation or other makeup.
Note: Since this is more like a tinted primer (a makeup item), we should remove the product before we sleep.
